Madison Strategies Group is excited to announce that our team was honored with 3 awards at the New York City Employment & Training Coalition (NYCETC) 2016 Opportunity Awards.
Program Director Alex Holt and Director of Business Services David Weinholtz were each awarded the Bonnie Potter Award for Outstanding Leadership Staff, and 2011 candidate Dahiana Caro was awarded an Outstanding Program Participant Award.
NYCETC, or “the strong voice for the New York City Workforce Community,” is a workforce development membership association for organizations that provide job training and employment services to New Yorkers. NYCETC is the only organization that focuses exclusively on NYC workforce development, and provides advocacy and policy services, online resources/social media, and events such as the Opportunity Awards that highlight the success of key players in the NYC workforce development landscape.
Program Director Alex Holt (pictured above right), who has worked as a trainer, manager, and now director with MSG since 2012, was honored for being an innovative curriculum developer, a dynamic facilitator and trainer, and a supportive manager of both logistics and people, as well as a strategic, results-oriented partnership builder that has led to innovative program components such as financial empowerment, career pathways and increased collaboration with community partners and training providers. Director of Business Services David Weinholtz (pictured above left), who is a founding member of MSG, was honored for the unique combination of skills that he brings to Madison Strategies: the heart to understand and care about candidates’ pasts and dreams; the brain to synthesize and apply workforce development policy trends and labor market statistics; and the eye for what traits and skills employers are truly looking for that have led to dynamic relationships with employer partners and hundreds of successful job placements with a living wage. Originally referred from our community partner New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG) in 2011, Career Directions program participant Dahiana Caro (pictured above center) was honored for her positive attitude and dedication to overcoming challenges as a non-native speaker in transferring her skills and experience from her country of origin to continue working and grow in the finance field, paired with her commitment to learning and coaching to achieve consistent advancement for herself and her family. Additionally, our employer partner Mount Sinai Health System was honored with the 2016 Outstanding Employer Award for its “ongoing investments and engagements with the workforce development community in NYC.” Mount Sinai was nominated by MSG as well as by fellow workforce organization Strive. Mount Sinai On-Boarding Team Supervisor for Talent Acquisition & Retention Gwynne Meacham (pictured below, center), who works closely with our Business Services team, accepted the award on Mount Sinai’s behalf.

MSG is proud to receive recognition for excellence and innovation in the NYC workforce development landscape, especially when compared to other more sizable and longer-established organizations. We look forward to upholding this standard of excellence and celebrating our team and accomplishments at the NYCETC Opportunity Awards in November, as well as beyond.
